Cloncurry is an important mining and cattle town located in Queensland’s Central West. In 1916, it was Australia’s main source of copper with four smelters running. Today, the town supports five major mines, extracting silver, gold, copper and zinc, as well as a thriving cattle and sheep industry. A town of firsts, the Royal Flying Doctor Service launched its inaugural flight in 1928 from Cloncurry and Qantas was conceptualised in the town also. Situated on the banks of the Cloncurry River, Cloncurry is the ultimate location for those wanting an outback lifestyle.
