Mackay Hospital "I enjoy the wide variety of patients I see in one day. Everybody is unique and interesting in their own way".
Dysart is a provincial mining town located in the Bowen Basin district, south west of Mackay. Established in 1973 as a dormitory town for three coalmines, Dysart also provides services for the surrounding cattle and grain properties. In 2008, Dysart was amalgamated into the Isaac Shire.
A quiet town with modern facilities, Dysart is one of the Peak Downs settlements offering a laid-back country lifestyle.
The 9 bed Dysart Hospital provides 24 hour emergency, medical and surgical services as well as a school based youth health nurse, palliative care, emergency donor panel and radiographer.
Clinics available include general outpatients, dressing, antenatal and child health.
Allied health provides counselling, support groups, health promotion, education & screening, home visits & support, community mental health, physiotherapy, speech pathology and alcohol, tobacco & other drugs services.
Outreach services to Dysart include a Royal Flying Doctor Service women’s doctor.
HACC provides Meals on Wheels to the aged community.
Considering Dysart’s proximity to the Gemfields, the coal mines of the Bowen Basin and a general shortage of housing, it is no surprise that the average price of a house in Dysart is higher than its coastal counterparts. Property experts predict that Dysart's houses can expect to have long term growth, returning more than twice the amount as other suburbs in the region. This means that your investment is safe, safe as houses.
Dysart hosts a unique monument. A Belly Dump Truck and a Coal Wagon were placed in a specially constructed park in recognition of the coal and rail industry’s contribution to the area.
