Capricorn Coast (Yeppoon) "The Hospital integrates primary care with community care, all under one roof, which is great".
Yeppoon is a sunny coastal town along the Capricorn Coast, 40km from Rockhampton. In Yeppoon’s earlier years, timber, beef, sugar and pineapple farming were its main industries, however tourism is now the town’s primary industry. Yeppoon’s proximity to Great Keppel Island makes it a prime location for watersport enthusiasts. With a provincial village atmosphere set amongst stretches of beaches Yeppoon is an idyllic place for those looking for a sea change.
The Capricorn Coast Hospital provides emergency, acute inpatient services, rehabilitation, palliative care, residential aged care, women and family health programs, adult health programs and oral health services to the community.
The best that Yeppoon has to offer is out-of-doors. Land or sea will be the only decision you’ll need to make.
The Capricorn Coast National Park’s contrast of mangroves, dry rainforest, tussock grassland and open eucalypt forest against the blue waters of Keppel Bay makes for a breathtaking experience. Take a picnic and enjoy the view from Bluff Point
day use area. Then, take the 2.3 kilometre walking track for fabulous views over
islands and hinterland. Watch sea turtles from the high cliffs of Turtle lookout.
For a marine experience, head to the Capricornia Cays National Park which includes
eight islands formed from coral fragments that rise above the high tide mark. Their exceptional beauty and the endangered plants and animals they protect, make them internationally significant. The Cays, and surrounding coast, support the largest breeding population of endangered Loggerhead turtles in the South Pacific.
The Champions Brock Experience is a must for any avid race-car fan. Featuring the largest collection of deceased racing legend Peter Brock’s road and race cars, professional and personal memorabilia as well as exclusive footage of the man himself, this exhibition is not to be missed.
