Innisfail is a large country town situated on the junction of the North and South Johnstone Rivers in Far North Queensland. Although part of the Johnstone Shire, Innisfail is the commercial centre for much of the tropical coast, including the Cardwell Shire, the Hinchinbrook Shire and the Southern
Tablelands area. Sugar has been grown in the area since the early 1880’s. Other industries include tea, bananas, pawpaws, exotic tropical fruits and aquaculture.
