Mackay Hospital (Mackay Health Service District)

The Mackay Base Hospital offers patients a range of services including obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, emergency medicine, orthopaedics intensive care, coronary care, psychiatry, aged care, renal medicine, opthalmology and oncology and palliative care.

In addition, the hospital offers access to specialist clinics such as dermatology, neurosurgical and neurology, urology, cardiac and many other surgical and medical specialities.

The Mackay Base Hospital is located just ten minutes from Mackay's city centre.     

The Queensland Government has planned a major $405.6 million redevelopment for Mackay Base Hospital to include:
  • emergency department
  • outpatients department
  • delivery suites
  • special care nursery
  • intensive care unit
  • day surgery and operating
  • theatre suite
  • inpatient surgical and medical wards
  • renal support services
  • dental services
  • mental health facilities
