English language proficiency

All IMGs seeking registration are required to pass an English language proficiency test.  This provides an objective measure to determine whether the applicant's language skills are appropriate to the professional requirements of medical practice in Queensland.

Alternatively, you must have:

  1. completed and obtained an overall pass in the Occupational English Test (OET) administered by the Centre for Adult Education with grades A or B only in each of the four components or
  2. gained a pass in the Professional Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) examination in the United Kingdom or
  3. gained a pass in the New Zealand Registration Examination (NZREX) in New Zealand.
