Role Profile - Director
Purpose of role
As the single point of accountability for the medical services of the Department of Emergency Medicine, the primary functions of the position are:

To provide leadership to the Department.

To manage resources to achieve required outcomes.

To provide clinical leadership to ensure that clinical services are appropriate, effective, efficient, safe and in keeping with contemporary standards.

To promote and coordinate relevant educational and research activities in collaboration with relevant universities and other stakeholders.

Fulfil the accountabilities of this role in accordance with Queensland Health's core values, as outlined above.

Provide leadership and management of the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Provide contemporary health care to patients in the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Communicate effectively with mulit-disciplinary teams, other agencies and consumer groups.

Lead service development including quality improvement, risk management, service evaluation and service delivery planning.

Provide effective teaching at an undergraduate and postgraduate level (including multi-disciplinary education and training) and participate in research.

Manage the Emergency Medicine Department in accordance with contemporary human resources practise including workplace health and safety, employment equity and anti-discrimination.

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and management to a busy clinical department (Emergency Medicine).

Proven ability to provide contemporary health care to patients in a clinical department (Emergency Medicine).

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with mulit-disciplinary teams, other agencies and consumer groups.

Demonstrated ability to lead service development including quality improvement, risk management, service evaluation and service delivery planning.

Qualifications / Professional registration / Other requirements
These requirements must be met to be considered for selection.

Registration with, or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

Hold specialist qualifications in Emergency Medicine acceptable to the Medical Board of Australia and to the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine.
