The Queensland Needle and Syringe Program within the Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Branch is responsible for the state-wide needle and syringe program, including policy and training.
It is Queensland Government policy to reduce the harms associated with injecting drug use without condoning such drug use. One of the significant harms associated with injecting drug use is the transmission of blood borne viral infections such as HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV).
The aim of the Queensland Needle and Syringe Program is to reduce the incidence of blood borne viruses and injecting related injuries and disease.
Further information about the Queensland Needle and Syringe Program including the Needle and Syringe Program Policy, key publications, location guides, and information resources, are available at the QNSP website.
